The Pool
Swimming is an excellent form of exercise for all. It increases aerobic endurance, improves flexibility and posture and tones the body.
The buoyant characteristics of water allow you to exercise while exerting minimum stress on your body. When you exercise in water (between waist and chest level), the water supports between 50 and 70% of your total body weight, making it much easier on your joints and muscles.
Swimming is especially useful for niche groups, in particular those who are overweight or have leg or lower back problems. Pregant women can benefit hugely from this form of exercise as it helps to strengthen the abdominal and shoulder muscles that are often taxed by carrying a baby. Swimming can also help to alleviate joint stiffness, high blood pressure and discomfort associated with pregnancy.
Alternatively we run Aqua Jog and Aqua Aerobics sessions in the pool which are great for building strength and stamina while decreasing the stress on your joints. Aqua Jog provides an excellent form of cross training and injury rehabilitation.
Whether you want to relax or have a workout, we have sessions to suit all needs. Why not check out our H2O timetable and come down to the Centre.
